3 Basic Ways To Make Money With Ebooks

An e-book, as defined by Wikipedia, is the digital media equivalent of a conventional printed book. As the Internet becomes more and more popular, the means of acquiring and transmitting information changes drastically. People love to read information from e-books and other digital mediums, as it’s more updated and convenient compared with the conventional printed materials.

Naturally most of us want to find a way to profit from this new trend. If you are one of these people who are looking to make money with ebooks, fortunately you have come to the right place.

There are three basic ways to make money with ebooks. Writing and publishing your own ebooks, selling other people’s ebooks, and both.

Writing and publishing your own ebooks

It’s no doubt that ebook writing is currently one of the most exciting and profitable ways to make money online. It’s not all that difficult as it seems. You don’t have to be an expert on your ebook subject, as most information can be easily found on the Internet and in your local library. You don’t even have to be a good writer as most word processors have grammar and spell checking tools.

Once you decide you want to write your own ebook, the first step is to choose a niche marketing or subject to write about. The more specific you make your ebook, the better it will sell.

Your next step is to complete an outline and table of contents. This will help you to organize your thoughts and ensure that your ebook flows well and keep your readers focused. After you’ve outlined your new ebook, you need to start your research and spend several hours researching the subject you want to write about.

Once the research is completed, you are ready to start writing. Start with a rough draft and then get your friends and family to proof read it. Never do your one proof reading and editing!

After the ebook is written, add some nice graphics and a cover page. Compile the ebook into an ebook format (I suggest pdf) and now you should have a unique and original ebook that you can sell.

Selling other people’s ebooks

It’s an excellent choice for those who enjoy the idea of starting a home based ebook business, but don’t want to write an ebook. You can still make money by selling ebooks written by other people. There are literally thousands of authors out there that need help selling their ebooks.

There are two options for you to sell other people’s ebooks.

1. Reselling ebooks with resale rights

These ebooks come with resale rights, which entitle you to resell them without violating the copyright of the original author. The beauty of this option is that you just pay once for the ebook, sell it for life and keep 100% of the profits.

2. Affiliate marketing

Affiliate Marketing is an agreement between a merchant (the person who wrote and owns the ebook) and you (an affiliate). You agree to use your web sites and blogs to promote the merchant’s ebooks and to link to the merchant’s web site. In exchange for this, the merchant pays you a commission on all sales that were generated by the affiliate web site. A referral occurs when a customer clicks on your product link and makes a purchase.

Writing your own ebooks and selling other people’s ebooks

This is a combination of the two ways mentioned above. Of course, if you can handle both roles, you can certainly make more money. It requires you to be not only good at writing but also skillful in marketing and promotion.
